About me

Hello. I’m Kyle Maurer. I’m an Ohio lawyer, and I would like to be your lawyer.

Like many before me, I was inspired by “To Kill a Mockingbird.” I believe the purpose of the lawyer is to be an advisor, a confidant, someone who you can trust and rely on. I want to be that for you.

For $100, you get a personal one-hour initial consultation with me. I’ll hear you out about any legal issues you have, and I’ll advise you as best I can. However, I have a responsibility to you to give careful advice, to say what I’m sure of and to be sure of what I say. That means my advice may be “I’m not sure, it depends on this or that, but I can look it up and find out for you.”

If we agree that I’ll represent you, the $100 consultation is effectively free, since I’ll discount it against your first bill. For example, my flat fee for a will starts at $150, but I have a husband-and-wife special for $100 each, $200 total. Let’s say after the consultation we agree that I’ll write two wills, one for you and one for your spouse. You’ll pay $100 after that one-hour consultation, but then I’ll knock that $100 right off your $200 fee for the wills, so you’ll pay $100 for the two wills. Now you’ve gotten that hour consultation and the two wills for just $200, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me.

Other than flat fee arrangements, my time spent researching, corresponding with you and others, and otherwise doing what needs done will be billed to you at $100 per hour as minimum 5-minute increments of $8.33 each. Before I represent you, we'll agree on the terms of the representation and the retainer amount. Once the agreement is signed and the retainer is paid, I’m your lawyer. Looking forward to it!

My practice areas are estate planning and probate, real estate and leases, civil rights (especially 1st Amendment), and all kinds of contracts. But what I’m really trying to sell you, besides of course competent legal advice and representation, is peace of mind, guidance, and the assurance that someone is in your corner protecting your rights. A lot of people don’t have that, and I think more of them should. I think you should!

If you’ve got something on your mind, don't worry alone. Tell me about it! Email me at kyle@kyle.law.
